What is "Our Plant-based Future"
We need to accelerate the transition to a more plant-based food system - to make plant-based food the new normal
More than a third of greenhouse gasses come from the food we eat. Livestock production alone accounts for 20% of global emissions. Further, the need for animal feed is one of the main reasons for tropical deforestation and biodiversity loss.
More plant-based food production and consumption is, without comparison, the most effective way to reduce emissions from the global food system. It is much more efficient to produce plant-based food for human consumption instead of as feed for animals, that we can eat afterwards. To succeed, we must work closely together across disciplines of knowledge and through the food value chain.

In our Living Lab we* will:
- Generate and co-create ideas and solutions with all partners relevant for the entire food value chain
- Be providers of multidisciplinary research-based solutions and activities, for making a more plant-based diet the new normal
- Be the place for applied experimentation in real environments at UCPH or partner(s) place
- Make the next generation well founded and qualified to contribute to the plant-based food transition
