Transformative Talk: Consumer Empowerment

In this talk Arne Skov will explain how, by offering materials and know-how to help us repair our products, the Repair Cafés around Denmark seek to give consumers an alternative to simply buying more. Yet, the project also gathers knowledge to help challenge the existing legislation that protects producers more than consumers and the environment. Finally, Arne will explain how the Repair Café initiative is also as a way of building community, supplanting the endorphin rush of consumerism with more meaningful relation-building.

Arne Skov is chairperson of Repair Cafe Denmark which s the umbrella organization for more than 120 nationwide repair cafes that help people repair almost everything between heaven and earth.
